Question about signing old books

Ok, I hope this is the right spot, but I have a question about getting a book signed.

I have an old Black Knight #3 and am planning on getting Stan Lee to sign it since he wrote and created the character. It was brought to my attention that there may be side affects to this, mainly the ink causing an accelerated deterioration of the paper around it.

The book is from the mid 50's and I don't want to ruin it. I will be sending it off for certification once signed so that may help with the deterioration concern.

 

What are your thoughts on this please.
