Brown streaky page defects

SO I bought a golden age book that has brown streaks on the interior pages throughout the book. They seem to occur with no pattern or reason.

 

If it was water, I would have expected it to all be in the same place on the pages that were exposed, but the streaks are random on each page. and have no set pattern. Also the covers of the book show no water damage.

 

Can anyone help with a theory? What are the streaks? Signs of brittleness due to oxidation? a form of foxing? Water? What do these streaks do to the grade? Ignoring the streaks it is an otherwise 5.0 book. Here are some pics...
