Copper Age File Copies

I didn't know there were any but could someone tell me about this Marvel Comics "File Copy" from 1986:

it is a meaningless, unverifiable, designation. even if true, it wouldn't be a pedigree.

 

no doubt marvel, DC, et al. kept a certain # of copies of each issue in their files for whatever purposes: future reference, future litigation, etc. they must be claiming this was stolen from the files or at some point the files were culled for storage purposes, maybe they only kept 1 copy and got rid of the 4 extras, etc.

 

with that said...I feel like I have seen marvel or DC file copies here in NYC over the years and they had a stamp on them like "Property of Marvel..." something like that. makes sense because pilfering employees would be local here. of course, this could be a figment of my imagination.
