It's about the quality of your interactions, not the numbers under your avatar, really.

 

Treat the site like an RPG. You start out Level 1 with a wooden sword and a leather shield. It doesn't matter how hard you swing, you can only win a fight against another noob. Eventually, you may get a Sword of Slashing Wit +1 and a Shield of Jaded Apathy +3, and you're well on your way to enjoying the adventure.

 

I think I must be playing as a rogue mage or something. I wear a Cloak of Invisibility +2 and occasionally poke at people with a Dagger of Dry Wit -1. It's still a fun place, though. :)
