Best $1 bin finds

I used to collect/flip everything I could get my hands on when I started going to auctions and estate sales. Comics are a rare find at most of those, but once in awhile we all get lucky. I've since given up flipping antiques for the most part and I RARELY even sell a book :P It's all about the thrill of the hunt.

In general, the cheap stuff I find comes from garage sales (few and far between for comics, but can be fairly good when they hit well) and one of the LCS that has WAY too much stock. They have a crazy sale on overstock back issues about twice a year.

For $1 or less per book in the past year-ish:

The Strain #1 Reg and Variant

X-Men 282

X-Men 221 So Much Fun Variant (a little beat up)

Batman 357, 358, Year One run

G.I. Joe Special #1 ($.25 garage sale find)

Scott Pilgrim FCBD

Some Tron Variant covers of Marvel books (Tron Legacy variant promos)

Also picked up some Todd #1s at cover last fall.

At a local show yesterday I picked up a few. Not all copper but still pretty sweet. Didn't pay more than $1 or $2 for any of them.

Micronauts 1

Two copies of ASM 361. One is a newsstand copy that may be 9.8 worthy.

Booster Gold 1 (newsstand copy probably 9.2 ish)

Adventure Comics 408 Oakland copy (yeah, that's right)

Six Moore Swamp Things in the 40s

Eternals 1 (70s series)

Deadpool 1 (1993)

Nicely done! I found 5 copies of #1 and the #1 variant last month...sold all but 2 of the copies within 24 hours.

Last year at a flea market I found Invincible#1 for a buck.

Didn't find much this past weekend at two LCS, but maybe a good

thing so I don't get too cocky since I'm still coming off a comic-coma

of finding Thor 337, X-Men 282, Hulk 377 (third), Capatain America 360

for a buck apiece as well as all the Death of Superman key issues

in just the last three weeks.

I did pick up two Destroyer Duck #1 issues (Kirby c/a) that are NM to NM+

for $2.99 each, and a slew of non-valuable assorted #1 issues for my

Marvel/DC first issue collection.

March is a new month, so there will be a new Superhero at half price and I can hit

it hard if it's one that I want to collect.

I keep hoping I can find a Hulk 377 3rd on the cheap.

Some LCS proprietors aren't up on the later printing trend or can be old-school

in their thinking and just don't consider them important. If they mostly depend on Overstreet then they're going miss many of these.

So keep looking -- they're out there.

You may have to expand your search to nearby towns outside your

normal hunting area.

Why is the Hulk #377 3rd print so sought after?
