CGC 10's

20 posts in this topic

I dunno, but I hope CGC gets Architect to create a web page report of statistics like this sometime soon. I'd love to see aggregate totals for counts on the 25 grades for the different ages or for specific titles.

Seems to me that CBG used to run an article once in a while with a census report from CGC. It listed the number of books in each grade. I think the last time I saw this was maybe 8 to 12 months ago. I would sure like to see something like that on a regular basis.

For what it's worth on eBay for the last 9 months we've recorded the following number of auctions in each CGC grade. (Keep in mind that a number of these are relistings of the same book, so this does not represent UNIQUE books.)

10.0 139

9.9 499

9.8 13,898

9.6 22,868

9.4 17,422

9.2 10,029

9.0 7,385

8.5 5,630

8.0 4,767

7.5 3,545

7.0 3,125

6.5 1,780

6.0 1,349

5.5 1,094

5.0 1,254

4.5 1,057

4.0 1,186

3.5 609

3.0 596

2.5 281

2.0 228

1.8 94

There were only about 20 unique books offered in 0.5 over the last 9 months. Several of them were what you might suspect - old, valuable Golden Age and a few high price 60s books. There was an Action #14 relisted 3 times, a Daredevil 1, an Amazing Spider-Man #1 relisted a couple of times - books like that.

Sorry, don't know how many (if any) were coverless. Most have already scrolled off eBay. Looking at a few I found an X-Men #3 0.5 (got a bid of $44.89!!), an X-Men #1 0.5 $246 (still up on eBay #2152717231), Incredible Hulk #3 0.5 with a page missing $52, a restored Incredible Hulk #1 0.5 $310 - must have been in REALLY bad shape to only be 0.5 after restoration!

I have a coverless Incredible Hulk #1 stuck back in a box somewhere. If I can get 300 bucks for it I might have to dig it up!! smile.gif

Big books or not, those prices are all ridiculous. I don't know what's more shocking, the fact that a coverless X Men #3 sold for $44, or the fact that someone actually sent in a coverless X Men #3. For $44 you could get a complete reader copy. I don't get what some people could possibly be thinking.

Don't really see the appeal of a coverless book.

Sure you can get a cheap copy of a big ticket book, but to me the cover is SO important that I wouldn't even consider a book without one.

There was a coverless copy of ASM #1 up on ebay too several months back ( I posted a thread related to it) I think it went for well over $100. shocked.gif

I think I left the wrong impression with my last post blush.gif . I was just pointing out a few other 0.5 auctions. I don't know if any of them were coverless or not. The X-Men #1 auction that is still on eBay (2152717231) history has a cover, but is missing a centerfold.

I would like to know if the Incredible Hulk #1 0.5 was coverless, but it has already scrolled off. Then I would know if it was worth it to dig through boxes and boxes of my old stuff looking for my coverless copy. smile.gif
