Show us a comic from the month you were born

128 posts in this topic

I know if you participate in this that you will be revealing your age, but get over it. Let's see a scan of a comic from the month you were born. If you have several of them, then pick your favorite, or the one that best illustrates the comics of the time.

Here's mine from November 1963:

Can someone post a scan of ASM 100?

I was born in September of 1971.... cool.gif

Steal it from the GCD!

http://www.comics.org/

(I mean copy and save and host it yourself, of course).

For some reason, the "year" option doesn't work right for me. The first page will be chronological, but then when I hit "next" it goes alphabetical. If this doesn't happen to you guys, it'll be easy to find a book from your birth month/year.

The Van Dyke episode "Your Home Is My Home", where Rob and Laura bought their house with the big rock in the basement and got into a fight with Millie and Jerry about it, was aired on my birthday, February 2, 1965.

Now comics on sale - comics on sale on February 2 would have an April or May cover date, not February. FF 37.

For DC comics by month/year

Silver Age Marvel comics

otherwise Grand Comic Database mentioned above.

Thanks for the sites, but

I've tried the Marvel site. Doesn't go back far enough.

Tried the DC site. Nothing interesting to me about any of those books. I'm a Marvel junkie!

Tried the GCD site and can't figure out how to check for year there.

Going by cover date, instead of on-sale date, the coolest DC of my birth month would have to be:

Coincidentally, I'm pretty sure this is also the first Silver Age Flash story I ever read, probably 10 years later as a reprint in one of those early 100 Page Super-Spectaculars! cloud9.gif

Jan. 1961

That is before any Marvel super-heroes at least under the Atlas/Marvel company. At that time they were only publishing Westerns/Monster/Girl comics.

Here is a monster one from January 1961
