I always thought that Spiderman's mask was modeled after the Ghost Rider.

 

Never realized the similarity until you pointed it out. But yeah, very similar eyes.

 

I think the mask they sold looked even more like Spidey.

Very cool. I wrote about this a bit last October -- Siegel always felt the Batman origin was too close to Superman's, but as you'll see, there is some timing that raises some eyebrows:
