In looking at the bids so far, there are five unique bidders in the $1.6M - $1.75M range. There definitely seems to be enough deep-pocketed bidders bidding on the book to go right past the old record.

if someone truly offered them 3mm before the sale started, I can't imagine that person is not ready to give at least that amount in this auction. The real question is who is willing to push them that far themselves.

That's seems like what a sniper will do in this auction where you need to be pre-approved. You would definitely want to do a test bid then come back later for the real action.
