Only tiny increases in Archie Comics 11-50 in lower grades...

How long will it take for Archie 50 to get it's due in OSPG?

doh!

Well, OS normally takes things one step at a time.......first comes the breakout from the rest of the group and then this is usually followed by significantly larger jumps in price than normal for the next several years.

Archie 50 came in at only $500 a couple of years ago, with the breakout taking place last year when it moved to $750. He has now raised it to $1K with its former grouping of issues #41 to #49 coming in at only $575.

If you go back and look at all of the breakout books, they all tend to follow the exact same pricing increase pattern. For example, take a look at More Fun #56 as compared to its former grouping from back in the day, or Funny Picture Stories #7 from a few years ago, or even more recently Wings #89 - #91, #94. Breakouts followed by big pricing increases!

The increases are there, it's simply a matter of OS needing to break out more of the issues which are in higher demand and hence command much more dollars than their neighbouring issues, especially when it comes to some of these GA books. hm

The OS top 100 GA top 20 SA the top 10 BA and top 10 CA lists had one thing in common. Not one book went down in value (shrug)

Although I did noticed that he has tagged a number of the 2nd tier Timely books with big fat zero price increases which is something rather new for these books. hm

Interesting to note that Cerebus #1 has now moved into the #2 position behind GL #76 for most valuable BA book, excluding the 2 price variants.

I guess people have finally realized how rare Cerebus #1 is.

Isn`t the Cerebus first print then less TMNT#1 print run?

Not one of Trimpe's best efforts for sure, but I liked his work on The Hulk back in the day- especially with Severin on inks. Trimpe's Hulk covers were some of the most compositionally dynamic of the era.

+1

..... + 2...... it was one of the titles I tried very hard not to miss in the late 60's. Hulk 109 is one of my favorite covers :cloud9: GOD BLESS...

well maybe I was being a little hard on him this a.m. with his earlier work, but the new cover has Wendigo with 3 fingers on his right hand,...

THREE FINGERS! Come on man. This is the #1 book that you are popular for and you can't even put enough fingers on a hand. Never mind the wooden characters and the multiple perspective view points that can't exist in reality...

I bet this guy draws something from the Hulk 180-182 at EVERY SHOW he goes to. Plain and simple - if you can't do it, don't do it.

:P

...I know i know.....

The one constant through all the years, has been comic books. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But comic books has marked the time. This writer, this illustrator: it's a part of our past. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.

;)

Great post. :golfclap:

Can I ask, does it still have the same ol' history sections that haven't changed in years?

Some, but it has way more content than it used to. Lots of great articles and interviews, the war report, the market reports are bigger and better and more contrarian, there's the Hall of Fame, interviews with CGC and with Borock, etc. It's a great edition this year, frankly.

Batman new 52 #1 30.00-okay, being conservative, but 2-4 at 3.00 each? Come on!

They never are really up to date on moderns...

Check out preacher 1 :)

I will say that it was really funny seeing Vault grading and PGX having ads in this years overstreet.

Yes, OS has the Cerebus print run at only 2,000 copies with the comment that most of them were poorly printed. The initial print run for TMNT #1 was higher with 3,000 copies; with this total balloning to over 100,000 copies by the time you add in all of the subsequent reprints.

I believe it is virtually impossible to find a true HG copy of Cerebus #1 as every single copy which I have seen exhibited spine ticks. Definitely not the case with the TMNT #1 which was collected in high grade if you was lucky enough to grab one off the newsstand or get one directly from Mirage before it became a hit.

Needless to say, TMNT #1 is more valuable with all of its associated media tie-in, movies, and everything else.

I got the Batman cover. Only skimmed the market reports so far but it looks like business as usual: maybe a third thoughtful and well written, a third touting a dealer's big sales and a third that sound like they're trying to move product, along the lines of "Late 70s Gold Key Porky Pig is in constant demand!"

In this part of the country Porky Pig is second only to Harley Quinn in popularity. Early Porks are impossible to keep in stock, and even later issues in high grade are very expensive and in high demand. Of course, some issues are better than others. Porky and Daffy team-ups are break-out books, picnic covers command high premiums, as, of course, do good-pig art covers featuring Petunia at the beach.

Li'l Bad Wolf cameos are also a plus.

I can understand the reluctance to price moderns highly. They don't have an established track record for sustained value. It's hard to "buy in" for newish books.

You have a good sense of humor with those market reports.

Thanks! However... in trying to be too cute, I was hoist by my own petard! Did anyone catch the boo-boo in my market report (besides the obvious satire).

What?? I live pretty close to you and I see a ton of Pig books in the dollar bins of the LCS. I don't know how "early" your talking about but I definitely do not see any pig books on the walls of shops in the area.

Ok - glad your kidding. Ohio gets a bad enough rap as it is so I'd hate to have people thinking we are the Porky Pig capitol of the US.
