Bosco685 Posted November 18, 2014 Share Posted November 18, 2014 FX Developing TV show ----------------------- Cable network FX is developing a dramatic television series based on Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell's From Hell, a graphic novel about Jack The Ripper. It was previously adapted into a 2001 feature film by 20th Century Fox that starred Johnny Depp, Heather Graham and Robbie Coltrane. It was directed by Allen Hughes and Albert Hughes. One of the film's producers, Don Murphy, will be an executive producer for the From Hell television series. He's the only major player from the film to be involved with the show. He wasn't involved in the LoEG movie and he has long cited a displeasure with his comics stories being manipulated by others in other media. Jack the Ripper TV Series Coming to FX from From Hell Series Quote FX is developing a new drama series based around the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell, From Hell. According to Deadline, From Hell tells the tale of Jack the Ripper with the killer himself as the main character. Detailing the events leading up to the Whitechapel killings and the cover-up that followed, the 572-page graphic novel is a meditation on the mind of a madman whose savagery and violence gave birth to the 20th century. Now producers are turning the graphic novel into a TV series. From Hell was once considered one of the top 10 graphic novels of all time. It came out as a comic book in the 1980s and late 90s. Filming for the production is expected to start as soon as possible. ▫️ Posted August 13, 2022 Share Posted August 13, 2022 I thought the Hughes brothers film did a fantastic job representing the GN considering the two hour run time. A series could really expand it but they better keep the brutality in your face as fans would not want a watered down version of the GN.
