I find this interesting, actually. We could start a running list of different levels of 'parent issues'.

 

First, characters whose both parents' death are an integral part of their origin:

Batman (the poster boy)

Superman

Spider-Man

Captain Marvel (Billy Batson)

 

Second, the death of one parent is an integral part of the character's origin:

Green Lantern

Flash

Aquaman?

 

I can think of one who had daddy/mommy issues retconned into their origin:

Hulk (his dad being a monster and killing his mother was introduced much later)

 

Anything else? Feel free to correct any mistakes or add categories. It seems the most iconic super-heroes have serious daddy issues. Perhaps it resonates with audiences.
