Daniel Craig Says ‘Spectre’ Won’t Be His Last James Bond Movie:

‘I’m Contracted for One More’

From:

I heard it reported on the radio this morning (sorry, I don't have an internet source for this) that this announcement about Craig returning to play Bond for one more film was a bait-and-switch. He is, in fact, done.

Apparently, this morning Craig said/tweeted something to the affect of 'I would rather slit my wrists than play Bond again.'

I know I shouldn't be, but I was really kind of disappointed to hear him say something like that.

I understand that making movies isn't glamorous, and an action film like this can be very physically demanding. Just hitting the gym to get in top shape every 3 years would be a pain.

And I understand that there's actors who find it more creatively satisfying to do small, art-house films, disdain popcorn flicks as 'soulless', and are repulsed by the stardom that accompanies being attached to a blockbuster franchise like this.

My impression is that Craig is one of those kinds of actors.

This is the thing that gets me: the big-budget, popcorn flick franchise isn't exactly an unknown entity. If, as an actor, you detest and resent it so much....why sign on for one of these things to begin with?

Since Craig joined the franchise it's enjoyed both critical and commercial success. That, in turn, I'm sure as opened to Craig opportunities that he wouldn't have had otherwise.

I understand getting burnt-out on something, but you'd think Craig would be a little more circumspect. Moore seems like a total pro by comparison.

.......

And yeah, I'm completely underwhelmed by the song. Fortunately, a Bond film's success doesn't stand or fall on the song.

Despite the song and Craig's attitude, I'm super-excited for this movie.

That rumor is coming up again.

Sony Could Lose Bond Franchise

Spectre is the last in a two-picture deal between Sony and distributor MGM in 2011. MGM controls the rights to Bond and they'll likely test the waters of free agency following Spectre's release.

While the highest bidder may seem like the go-to choice for MGM, Sony may have a case even if another studio were to offer up more cash. Their success with the Bond franchise has only reaped rewards for MGM, starting in 2006 with Casino Royale and followed by Quantum of Solace in 2008 and Skyfall in 2012. Skyfall even set an opening weekend record for Bond with $88 million and Spectre is tracking at around $80 million with two weeks until its release.

Anyone looking to go back and watch the other Daniel Craig movies before Spectre, Walmart is having a $3.74 DVD sale. I picked up Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale. They had Skyfall as well (have that one).

I way overpaid for Quantum of Solace when it first came out, which was a decent movie (in a Live and Let Die way), but $3.74 (tax free NH) would have made me feel better for this "placeholder" for Skyfall. You should have picked up Winter's Bone for that price yesterday. :baiting:

After watching Casino Royale, I just realized something.

Jesper Christensen's character that appeared in the first Spectre trailer with that line 'You're a kite dancing in a hurricane Mr. Bond' saved Bond's life when he shot Le Chiffre in the head back in Casino Royale (Mister White).

Unfortunately, he stood there and watched Vesper drowned while Bond attempted to save her. Though Bond took care of that later with a nice shot to the kneecap.

They weren't kidding when it was stated Spectre has been in the works for years, story after story.

:ohnoez:

I've alway enjoyed Another Way Too Die's edge it brought to "Solace". But Adele's Skyfall was a return to form (Shirley Bassey) for the films. It elevated the theme considerably.
