Large Silver Age Marvel and DC Collection Including AF#15 and Daredevil #1

31 posts in this topic

So I have decided to sell off my entire silver age collection dating from 1960-1980. My father originally collected these comics when he was a kid in the 60's and early 70's and then passed them onto me to enjoy when I was young.

I'm moving home and have a kid on the way so I could do with the space, so it is with a heavy heart that I will be letting all these comics go .I look forward to hearing from other collectors and handing the comics over to be enjoyed by others for years to come.

There are 1,776 Comics in total.

A full list including approx grade can be found via the following link:

Highlights Include (Picture linked beneath):

Amazing Fantasy #15

Silver Surfer #1

Captain America #100

There are also lots of early X-Men (Almost complete run from 10-110) http://i.imgur.com/rMsqhRM.jpg, Amazing Spiderman (Almost complete run from 20-100) http://i.imgur.com/cCtCVrM.jpg, Fantastic Four, Avengers and many, many more.

It's a real mixed bag of mainly Marvel comics including many key titles and issues, as well as some random and rare comics that would be a dream for any collector interested in silver age comics.

All comics listed are complete (to the best of my knowledge) and in a used but still decent condition. Don't expect the highest grades but I have not included anything that is completely falling apart, missing covers, or very defective.(I can include those for free if you want to buy the entire collection)

They have been stored in a dry dark cupboard in piles for the best part of 30 years to give you an idea of what to expect. They would be perfect for reading copies as they are all raw and ungraded. These is also scope to increase the value of the collection by pressing and grading certain comics if you are into that sort of thing.

I have assigned each book a rough grade (Mainly a 2,4 or 6) and have had my grading verified by a local expert. The actual grade may vary by up to a point or so either way (higher or lower).

The majority of books will fall in the good to fine range (2-6) with a few higher and a couple a touch lower. I would image few might fall into the very fine to near mint range (7-9). I have included pics of some key issues (above) to give you an idea of my grading, I am no expect on comic grading so bear this in mind when making offers. I am happy to provide further pictures on request once an initial price based on my rough grade is agreed and we can take it from there.

I am based in UK so some comics are UK pence copies while other are cents copies (often with UK price stamp somewhere).

I am willing to sell all the comics in the list and ideally looking to sell them all in one lot or sell off the entire runs of each title. I am not that interested in selling individual issues but would consider a good offer if I feel it won't ruin the collections overall appeal. I there is anything in there you would like feel free to get in touch.

I live in UK and would ideally sell to someone in the UK where I would personally deliver the comics and work through any discrepancies in grading etc before completing the deal. I would be happy to ship abroad but bear in mind shipping costs will be quite high. I can provide shipping and insurance costs once a provisional offer is agreed.

Payment by Cheque or Bank transfer (I'll accept Paypal if you cover the fees). Returns accepted within 7 days with shipping at your expense. A full refund will be issued as soon as the comics are all returned in their original condition.

I have a idea of each comics worth based on Overstreet and recent auctions but am willing to listen to any serious offers. (There worth what someone is willing to pay and all that)

For a bulk purchase I am willing to give a decent discount enabling you to get them below market value and make a profit if you wish.

This collection has been largely untouched for years and is a real treasure trove of interesting silver age comics including many absolute classics and rare issues. As I mentioned earlier there is a good opportunity to add value to the collection by getting certain issues graded. The current condition and raw nature of the collection is also ideal for anyone who wants to read a ton of old comics without paying top dollar for very high grade copies. This is a real collectors dream and I would love them to go to another avid collector who will get real enjoyment from them as my father and myself have done up until now.

If you are interested in the collection or would like to make an offer please PM me or drop me an email at evan.pryce13@gmail.com.

I'm happy to provide further information and images if you are serious about buying. No jokers or time wasters please.

Hello!

Welcome to the "Comics Market - Forum Only Selling" board!

The moderators have asked everyone around here to help educate new comers (and lord knows there are a lot of them these days) about the posting rules for this forum so that we can keep things running smoothly. So whenever we see a new thread go up that's missing some of the information required by the rules, someone will generally happen along and post this reminder (by moderator request).

You can find the posting guidelines here:

http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1460472&page=1#Post1460472

Specifically, you should check out #6 (list specific books and SPECIFIC prices) none of this "email me and make me an offer" stuff.. we aren't craigslist.

They are well worth reading, because your posts can be removed from the boards if they don't conform to the guidelines. This will help you to attract more buyers as well, since this is how people expect to have books offered around here.

also from the PGM forum I know your AF15 is a pence copy, which does affect the market value.

you dont note in your spreadsheet that it is a pence copy, so Im assuming there are lots of pence copies (since your collection is from the UK, and you mention that some of the books in the collection are pence copies)

for the more valuable books its worth noting them as pence copies.

Apologies for the bad post. I read the terms and thought this listing was ok.

I have a rough price in mind for each issue but am looking to sell the entire collection or entire runs of each title so thought an individual price for each book wouldn't be worthwhile and would need to agree a price with whoever is interested.

just think of this marketplace like a store. if you walked in and there were no prices... well, you'd probably just walk back out!

List your price for the collection, or for the various runs... then you're in compliance!

Ok, based on my grading I predict the collection to be worth in the region of £20,000 - £25,000 approx $30,000 worth of comics.

As it is a bulk buy and the grading is unverified I would be willing to take half that amount which is approx $17,000 or £11,000.

I didn't want to give a definitive price as I image the final price would have to be adjusted for any grade discrepancies.

At that price you should easily be able to make a profit if you wish or you get a nice collection for lower than usual and I don't have to sell each comic off individually and pick apart the whole collection which I do not wish to do right now.

You could try Nick at Comicana, a UK-based boardie with an excellent reputation.

Nick is top notch, a straight shooter and as honest as the day is long. You won't be able to do better on that side of the Atlantic.

Agree with Vintage, Nick is a legend and it's my first stop when looking for issues.

I've already sent Evan Nick's info.

Strange adventures - :takeit: per PM.

And based on the scans you will definitely have a better shot of getting some key books then the guy who paid $17K for the set on E-Bay.

How much for the double double covers??

Which double double covers did you mean, Action comics or Blackhawk?

I only want to sell as part of a full run or for the entire collection. Selling off individual issues is going to get messy and will reduce the appeal of the overall collection.

PM me if your still interested
