Wizard appears to be cutting shows from their schedule

61 posts in this topic

Can anyone speak to this rumor:

But, the people that booked were able to get a VIP for any show they wanted, so at least they got something back.

Maybe they bring it back, after all, Wizard's schedule for 2017 will have over 25 shows and some new cities included.

This would seem silly to me, as they cut a ton of shows that failed in their ill-considered massive expansion of a few years ago. At the moment they have the following 17 shows or potential shows:

2016 (I'm assuming all but maybe Richmond are rescheduled for '17)

Richmond (curious to see if Lochte shows up)

Austin

Tulsa

Pittsburgh

2017

New Orleans

Portland

Cleveland

St. Louis

Philly

Sacramento

Orlando (already moved once, no shows yet)

Chicago

Nashville (skipped 2016)

Columbus (dates TBD)

Reno (dates TBD)

Madison (dates TBD)

Minneapolis (dates TBD)

They clearly overestimated the market for giant shows in smaller market areas. Consider the list of casualties:

Des Moines

Albuquerque (which cancelled before it ever got held)

San Antonio (one and done, though a followup was scheduled TBD for two years)

Louisville

Ft Lauderdale

San Jose

Greenville

Las Vegas

Raleigh

Indy

And who could forget the brilliant show in China?

Where else would they consider expanding?
