A movie planned in advance of the comic being released.

The story centers on the wife of a galactic dictator (think someone akin to Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon) who makes the decision to take her three kids and leave her evil husband. With the aid of a bodyguard, she tries to take her brood — Aine, her 15-year-old daughter who wants to be with her father; Adam, her gentle soul of a 10-year-old son who she knows would not survive the trials ahead to be an elite ruler; and Puck, her 18-month-old — to her home world. The planet of which she is queen is Earth … 65 million years ago.

 

Mark Millar Teases Empress Casting Announcement

 

Kingsman and Kick- co-creator Mark Millar's latest feature film to go forward is Empress, based on an as-yet-unpublished series he's doing with artist Stuart Immonen.

 

And now the title role has been cast -- but with whom? Millar shared a photograph of the actress, with heavy makeup and an outfit that conceals some of her identifying features, and challenged fans to guess who's appearing in the film.

 

If a consensus doesn't form soon -- and if the news isn't spoiled before then -- Millar will announce the name of the mystery actress on April 6.

The rumor is the actress is Anne Hathaway.
