Meanwhile.... back the OP's question.

 

It's a good rule never to apply destructive tape to a paper product. If you are going to put the book back together, either have it leafcast (which will get you a purple restored label) or sealed with conservation quality tape or paper (which will get a conserved label). Either way, contact someone who knows what they're doing and what materials CGC smiles/frowns upon.
