Neil Gaiman’s InterWorld to Become a TV Show

The Wrap is reporting that Jeffrey Seller and Flody Suarez, the team behind the Broadway smash Hamilton, have signed a development deal to bring Gaiman’s young adult novel InterWorld, co-written with Michael Reaves, to television in a new series. Both Gaiman and Reaves will serve as producers alongside Seller and Suarez.

InterWorld was the first of three novels penned by the authors which follow the adventures of Joey Harker, a teenage boy who discovers he has the ability to cross over into alternate dimensions. Joey discovers that his alternate dimension counterparts have the same ability, and together the Joeys must align to stop an evil force that threatens the safety of all dimensions.

It’s standard Gaiman fare, as fans will tell you. His work often deals with alternate dimension and parallel realities, becoming sort of his wheelhouse in the minds of many. He’s also known for creating compelling characters that are relatable for both children and adults, making InterWorld a fine starting point for the uninitiated (as well as upping the possibility for cross-demographic appeal).
