Looks like there is some liquid staining of some sort on the outer edge. The way the creases look like they've turned to cracks makes me think the stain goes through the pages and has possibly made the pages brittle? Lots of guessing there but I've never really seen creases actually form cracks like that and can only imagine it happening from very wet material being intentionally dried. Also, the pictures are fairly small so its difficult to get all the detail. Maybe a 3.5 / 4.0.
