WEIRD WESTERN TALES #15 (SPLASH PAGE 16) GIL KANE

This Gil Kane title splash page from DC's Bronze Age Weird Western Tales run features a huge image of a skull-faced Death, holding a hangman's noose before a cowering gun-slinger. Blending the Horror and Western genres, this is a unique piece of Kane's art for DC during a period of serious productivity for the artist. Note that unlike much of Kane's art from this period, this piece is fully inked in india ink as opposed to being inked with marker. That means it does not have the fading that is sometimes found in Kane's work of this period. From the 1960s onward, Kane was one of the most important artists in comics, working for both Marvel and DC on some of their most famous heroes and titles. The art has an image area of approximately 10" x 15".
