divad
Why did Todd McFarlane takeover at TEC #576 from Alan Davies after TEC #575 in the 4-issue story arc, Batman Year Two?
Chaykin Stevens
Alan Davis drew the first issue of Batman Year Two before he saw Batman Year One. When Davis saw the artwork for Batman #404, which had not yet gone to press, he noticed the mauser Mike W Barr had asked him to draw was not consistent with the gun David Mazzucchelli showed Joe Chill using in a few panels of Batman #404. Davis asked them to get Mazzucchelli to alter his artwork. Instead they asked Davis to redraw the gun thoughout Detective #575. When Davis refused to do this, Giordano touched up the artwork, leading to Davis quitting DC. divad
Wow! Thanks! I would have quit too - the nerve. So how did McFarlane get drafted? (goes to read entire story at link). Edited July 9, 2017 by divad
Martin Sinescu
Great info. Davis's choice of the Mauser seems an odd one for a common crook like Chill, though.

GeeksAreMyPeeps
He had already worked for DC (on Infinity Inc). Since he did seem to be a fairly quick artist (I don't think he took breaks on ASM when they were bi-weekly in the summer), maybe someone in editorial pointed to him as someone who could fill in on the title in a pinch.
