Akira Toriyama (or Toyotarō) Dragon Ball Artwork?

Anyone know if there's any Dragon Ball or DBZ manga artwork or paintings out there? I've been unable to find a single lead.  I recall reading there is a stigma around a Japanese artist selling his comic artwork, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I'm also interested in Dragon Ball Super artwork by his successor, but I've read he works digital. Unsure if there's exceptions.

All of this is just surprisingly difficult to track down, so I question if it's even possible. Not interested in cels.

Cheers.

The only places I think you'd ever see  artwork by manga artists is on Yahoo Japan auctions or Mandrake.

Apparently there have been a few small sketches on there this year

I've always wondered what happens to the stacks for pages of long running series. Like Berserk, Dragon Ball, etc. Are there just thousands of pages in a closet somewhere or do they got tossed eventually?

Good luck!

If you check completed auctions on mandarake, those simple sketches go for the equivalent of 10 - 50k.      It's a spicy meatball.

I used to go to Japan monthly over a 5-6 year stretch, and it included a lot of hunting for manga art. I've posted about the search here before many times. Suffice it to say...there's very little of it out there.  There's no real established market for it, as with Western comic art, because there's never been enough supply for a true market to develop. So the original art hobby for manga, such as it is, exists largely for sketches, prelims, and basically, scraps.

In recent years, however, there have been major exhibits for such legendary mangakas as Otomo and Urasawa. So at least it's starting to be shared with the public, even if it's not available for sale.

I think you added an extra 0. Goku went for 4K, but that's still super ridiculous.

No there are several (most?) in the millions of yen, and unless I'm math challenged , those are various five figure points when you move the decimal point two places for a quick and dirty exchange approximation

Wow. That's by far and away the most ridiculous pricing I've heard of, for anything, comic art or otherwise. No longer ISO Toriyama artwork lol!
