Interesting X-men auctions

46 posts in this topic

here's a case for 91971 and roboshop being planted shill-bidders.

each I.D. has ONLY bid on nationalmoving's auctions (links have already been provided above). but not only that, besides bidding on all his HG X-Men auctions to crazy amounts (none of which have hit reserve yet), but they each have also bid on nationalmoving's:

- auction for Spidey 1 (1990) CGC 9.9 (check bid history)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2165709620

- nationalmoving's auction for a piece of LUGGAGE! (again, check bid history)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2165737096

that's right. so after buying all of nationalmoving's comics, the winner will buy and use nationalmoving's suitcase to carry it all home...

Well his edition is obviously special! Maybe one of those that reynold Jay handled. The prices on this guy's stuff have definitely hit the point of being completely ridiculous. especially with the same 2 bidders pretty much bumping everything up.

Well it gets even better! Just checked the upcoming closings and he cancelled all but about 5 of them. The x-men 7 had gone over $3000 and not met reserve! on a good day that book should go for $2000 tops. Guess the IRS took a kinder and gentler approach with him and saved the books from being sold off to cover taxes. Guess i better shut up about taxes though. My accountant hasn't finished with mine yet - so i may be having a big IRS sale soon too! Wonder if the government would take cgc books in lieu of real money to pay taxes?

The last couple of X-Men #98 CGC 9.4 sales before the $132.50 sale were for $185 and $159 (both from last month)...a far cry from the $345 the book fetched in October 2001 or the $305 gotten in June 2002. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the trend is d-o-w-n...

Bronze X men's seem to be going down, but Silver is definetly going up. I got a CGC 9.4 X Men #58 for $250 last year, and that's what 9.2's go for now, with 9.4's hitting the $400 range. And on dealer websites, you'd be hard pressed to find ANY silver/early bronze X-Men books in 9.4 for under $350-$400.

yeah I don't follow the bronze stuff as closely so the last time I noticed those issues from 95 to 101 seemed to be going for about $300 in 9.4. Guess this may be a good time to pick up some more of those Bryne issues. But books under #70 definitely still holding very good prices.
