Superman Daily Original Art Sold!!!!

With Sotheby's, the 15% juice is INcluded in the final eBay top bid. Wouldn't be surprised if mamanook laugh.gif Steve Geppi or his buddy John Snyder bought the art. It was originally consigned via Sotheby's NYC in 94June w/ low est. of $80k framed. Don't believe it met reserve the 1st time around in 1994, but sold 1 day later after auction closed.

The lot contained 2 pgs fr Joe Shuster's sketchbk depicting how Supe could be merchandised in 1936. Comes w/ origin artwork to Superman daily #1 circa 1930s pen & ink on craftint paper for duo-tone shading effects. There is a detailed treatise about this seminal work written by Roger Hill in Jerry Weist's Comic Art Pr Gd 2nd edition (2000). The bk is profusely illustrated, 1 inch thick & also includes pulp, ug, & monster mag/fanzine pr guide too. U may be able to borrow it fr your local libary. Alex Ross Subby frt cvr. smirk.gif

Mamanook is Mr Steve Geppi, head HONCHO of Diamond Comics Distn, Gemstone Publications (CBM, Overstreet Pr Gd?) & part owner of a pro sports team. His PETTY cash can buy me a new BMW convertible. Geppi is also unloading a lot of Rockford pedigrees at Heritage 02Oct big auction. He likes Archie comics & orig art.
