I was in the market for a Silver Surfer 4 a short while ago (before my new buying moratorium) and I looked it up on eBay tonight on a lark. Of the three or four auctions I looked at, 2 were total scams....

 

Obvious, yet undisclosed, color touch.

Two spine creases are touched and the long diagonal crease in the lower right is touched; both in black. Check out the high-res scan. The blacks are different colors and over creases that presumably broke color.

The crease goes through Thor's red cape and yellow boots without breaking color.

 

Check the back.

It has a huge crease just like the one in front.

 

I think the book might have had heavy stuff laid on it causing these impression creases. I see a lot of these "funny looking" creases on my low grade comics and I figure that's what did it. People used these things as pot holders, or coasters, and even paint brush cleaners in the old days.

Yeah, it does look weird. I emailed the seller asking if there was any bleed through. Have to wait and see what he says.

 

Did you check out the high-res scan the seller provides? It looks A LOT like color touch when you look at that one.

I just took another look at the larger scan. I am 99% certain it has been touched up. The right edge has places where the black marker has seeped into the purple areas.

OF is right - if you look at the scan linked in the auction - it looks like a blacker pen was used to hide the crease.There is also a scribble up in the purple galaxy thingy under the Surfer's board.

It took awhile for that to load.

 

Yes, you are right.

I can see it plain as day in the High Res scan.

I think it is just some black ink form a pen traced on the creases to color them out.

the seller ended the auction becasue of a mistake in the listing... its obvious u had a effect on hom to do that...i can see the color touch in thors knee.. but are u guys sure about the other color touch u discribe...when u blow the book up in hiogh scan u can really see the wrinkles.... all the reason to buy cgc books only on ebay
