Toy franchises being made into movies is nothing new these days and now it's Action Man's turn to hit the big screen. While the action figures may not ring a bell to those of you in the United States, they're essentially the United Kingdom's version of G.I. Joe and have been a popular toy for decades now (there have also been a lot of comic books featuring the character too which have sold pretty well).

James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass) is set to direct and the -script was penned by Simon Farnaby (Paddington 2). That's a pretty unique pairing but the latter is the best-reviewed movie of all-time on Rotten Tomatoes so the character is in pretty capable hands. There's no release date or casting information at the moment and it's unclear whether or not a British actor will take the lead role.

If so, Henry Cavill would be a pretty good choice for the role but we'll have to wait and see. The Action Man toys were first released in 1966 by Hasbro. There have been a number of animated TV shows and the big bad of the franchise is an international terrorist known as Dr. X.
