AQUAMAN #3

A really nice, flat supple copy. No outstanding spine stresses, an abrasion to the bottom of the spine, tiny abrasion to bottom the top of the spine. 

The defect that keeps this from being a solid VF or higher is a very faint hairline 1/2" crease that barely breaks color to the bottom right corner of the front cover. There's a matching faint crease to the bottom left corner of the back cover, but interior pages are unaffected. 

VERY FINE - 7.5   just shy of VF

AQUAMAN #7

Bairly noticeable stress, most prominate one is to the bottom right corner area of the back cover. Slight softening to corners, stacking dirt to back cover, age toning to inside front covers. 

This is a cracked-out CGC blue label 9.0 off-white to white pages. Blue label comes with the book. 

Not the tightest 9.0 I’ve seen. It looks somewhere between 8.5 and 9.0 to me. 

VERY FINE + 8.5 or a weak 9.0

Barely noticeable spine stress, slight softening to corners and minor abrasion to bottom of the spine. There is a slight bit of wear to the spine edge. Has some wear/slight color-breaking creasing to the bottom right edge of the front cover.  Also has some minuscule chipping to bottom edge of front cover  

This is a cracked-out CGC blue label 8.5 cream to off-white pages.  Blue label comes with the book. 

A really attractive higher-grade copy, but the wear to the bottom area of the front cover makes me feel is isn’t quite an 8.5  

VERY FINE 8.0

AQUAMAN #15

Faint spine stress, most noticeable on the back cover. Very slight bend to top left corner of back cover made more prominate by the minimal amount of stacking dirt to back cover. Very slight abrasion to bottom of the spine. 

A really nice flat, supple copy that at first glance presents like at least an 8.5, maybe slightly better. However, it does appear to have the beginnings of a split at the top staple. 

I’ve read that is somewhat common for early 60’s DC so I’ll call it..

A couple of small spine stresses, most outstanding are on the back cover. Slightest wear to black cover inks. A couple of very faint stains to the white border of the back cover between the ad and the spine.

Sorry for delay. Wife wanted me to put a liner and shelf under the kitchen. Not as easy as it sounds when it looks like an H. R. Giger nightmare. So many pipes and tubes...

Not one of the more desirable keys in the run...yet. But you just know one day some hotshot writer’s gonna bring Aquababy back Hush-style. 

A cracked-out CGC blue label 8.5 white pages. From the Moondog Dr. Fate Collection. Blue label and collection certificate come with the book. 

At first glance, it looks WAY better. Flat with just a hint of a spine stess at the top staple. Colors pop and black inks are deep with no wear. Back cover is nice and white. Corners are sharp.

Just the slightest abrasion to top and bottom of the spine. Looks like it could be 9.0, maybe even 9.2. 

But...it does have the beginnings of a split at the bottom staple. 

Still, a really sharp book that I still think is borderline 9.0.

1st appearance Terrible Trip

A couple of noticeable spine stresses, a minuscule color fleck off the spine edge, and a touch of wear to bottom left and right of front cover. 

There’s a faint 1” thumbnail crease that doesn’t appear to break color in the bottom left corner area of the front cover. 

Some age toning to the inside covers. 

VERY FINE + 8.5

AQUAMAN #36

1st appearance Awesome Threesome. These characters appeared in the Filmation cartoon and, like Black Manta, May have originated there. 

Again, another copy that at first glance looks like it could be 9.0/9.2. 

Flat with no spine stress to speak of and sharp corners, just the small bindery tear at the bottom of the spine. 

But closer inspection reveals some minuscule chipping along the bottom edge of the back cover. 

Also, the bottom right corners of about half the interior pages have bindery chipping, up to a 1/4”. 

And the front cover has some sun shadow/fading. 

Tough to grade as otherwise structurally it’s a really nice book.

AQUAMAN #38

1st (and last) appearance The Liquidator. Some cool Cardy art on this one. 

Bought this from a respected dealer as a 9.2...and paid accordingly. 

Looks like it from the front: light spine stress and very slight abrasion to top of spine.  Age toning inside covers  

However...the back cover has a dust/sun shadow at the top. And there’s some bending all along the top area of the the back cover. Most of it is slight, but one impact bend runs through the book to the front cover. It looks like it might break color just a teensy bit in the “A” in “AND” on the front cover. 

A lot of the might press out, might get it to an 8.5 maaaybe a 9.0. 

Should have returned it at the time but didn’t. Now it’s bath time.
