The Magic; When you read your comic books like the first time…

Ok like many of you I decide to thin the herd,
too many comic books, too many boxes.

What can I sell to buy more?
Sell a couple of low quality books to buy one perfect 9.8 white pages!

My first choice was my Mister Miracle run by Kirby,
all set, box, bubble wrap, seller venue…
the only
thing I lack is time to do so.

So in the meantime I decide to read again the books…

IT WAS AMAZING…!

Rediscovering Big Barda first appearance,
Jack Kirby art and dialogue,
the Amazing Kirby four Panels
Everything
I open and read was Pure Art,
Quality, History and Nostalgia…
Literally it was like reading for the first time...

How could I let this go…?

Short answer:  I cannot.

In middle age I seem suddenly to have developed a much stronger appreciation of Kirby’s work, including his 70s stories at DC and Marvel, and his incredible creativity.

I’m currently reading his Jimmy Olsen run, coincidentally.

A lot like going back to when I first saw it in the seventies, but somehow connecting to the  energy in his artwork even more, and just going along with the often over-the-top concepts, characters and stories.

I’d find my own Mister Miracle run tough to let go; more so now.
