An interesting press release from Image. Will the big two follow?

That's a good start, but the reality is that Marvel and DC are small revenue streams for their parent companies. Disney has a million sticks in the fire and bigger fish to fry. They inherited Diamond when they purchased Marvel and might be okay with finding a new distribution system. It looks easy on paper.

Diamond is and has been a company that is underfunded and struggling.  Twenty five year of Diamond dominating the industry is more than enough.  

When I was a teenager, there were many more record stores than comic shops. Economics and technology changed and now there are very few record shops yet the music industry has survived.

Perhaps it's time to put the direct market to bed and find a new system. One that doesn't segregate comics into self made ghettos.
