Seems that it was determined that the World’s Fair comic was sold in April, 1939, while Adventure Comics #40 was sold in June, 1939.

New York World's Fair, first published story.  Adventure #40, the story was produced before the NYWF story, but made it to print later.

The cape with a suit is hilarious. I recall reading somewhere the cape came later ? ( guess not ). I think the cape was eliminated in later ages ??

That was actually serious evening wear, it wasn't uncommon for men to done an evening cloak over their suits for fancy occasions.

My understanding is, NYWF 1939 hit newsstands first, but the story in Adventure #40 is the first written Sandman story.

Similar to Superman #4 vs. Action #23.

According to the archives, Worlds Fair came first.. Also a nice pic of Creig and Marie at their place from 01’.
