Kelgio82
Here it is! The book that i never thought I would own because I was always looking for the perfect deal that would never come. Book looks really nice from afar, and then you see the flaws up close. The book has a weird ink stain on the lower outer edge the runs the entire book. Then there is what appears to be a sharpie spot on a few of the pages almost as it someone wanted to remember their place for later reading? Finally the book itself seems to have had water damage of some sort because the whole book feels wavy and makes a crackling sound as you turn the pages. No visible water damage though. With a clean and press, what grade am I looking at for this book? Thank you all in advance for the inputs Galen130 and FoggyNelson
Randall Ries
That's a tough one. It LOOKS like it had something heavy laying on it for awhile but then there looks like some moisture may have gotten to is but not exactly soaking it. You could have it cleaned and pressed out, I think. I want to say that's printers ink on the pages but I don't know enough about it to say for certain. As it is, it's probably a 5.5-6.0 or so. I think with the right care, it could see 8.0-8.5. It doesn't have any color breaks to speak of. Press/clean that puppy to an 8.0 and put it in mylar! It's a nice book! The blue stain on the page edges is distributor ink which is sprayed on after the book is assembled. This is not considered a defect and won't affect the grade. The black ink drop appears to be print ink and would be considered part of the manufacturing process and also not a defect. The impressions at the top and bottom of the BC might be bale dents that occur when the books are bundled and strapped together. The waviness of the book might have been caused by this bundling. However, this is a defect, but one that could possibly be pressed out. Additional defects: blunted/abraded corners, rusted staples and possible water damage. 7.0 as is, a clean and press will improve

BigLeagueCHEW
Depends on how well that rear cover can be cleaned up, I would get it pressed, it's just guessing until it is done.
FoggyNelson
Might be as high as a 5.5 if pressed👍🥴‼️ evilskip and 1950's war comics

comicginger1789
That blue ink is distributors ink. Google it and you will see that unless it is extremely messy and all over the book, it has minimal affect on grade. Press the book. It appears wavy but that may be because of that ink spray. I have a Tomb of Dracula 1 that has similar wavyness to the bottom edge...it is on the docket to be pressed and I believe that can be fixed. As is, safely a 7.5. I do see potential for 8.0 though.
