Hi all,

Thanks for taking a look.  I would really appreciate some help regarding this book.  I bought this 10-15 years ago on eBay.  It’s always looked odd to me.

As you can see the top of the book is cut very close.  The right side of the cover is very jagged.  Is it trimmed or a factory defect?  If not trimmed what kind of grade would this receive?

I think ASM #300 having a very jagged outer edge is a fairly common production issue, so that wouldn't worry me at all. By 'the top of the book is cut very close', do you mean there's no cover overhang at all? I'm less sure about that but it may well be OK.

Most of the copies I was comparing it to on eBay show the whole ‘corner Marvel box’.  
I’m calling the marvel box the pink background on the upper left cover surrounded by black lines on all 4 sides typically.  And the 300 background slightly above the box if that makes sense.  There is no black line at the top of my issue’s corner marvel box.

Seems like there is usually some room above the yellow special 25th anniversary box as well with a slight amount of the 300 background from what I saw.

If that's a production mis-cut, I've never seen one rounded like that before.  Very peculiar....

I've never personally seen one miscut like that. There is a allot real estate missing at the top of the book and that's apparent throughout the internal pages as well.

It very well could be production.  But that seems really off to me.

I took a quick spin through Heritage archives:

When you compare a bunch of copies in a row, you can definitely see the cover art bobs up and down quite a bit from issue to issue. At a glance, I can't find one that's precisely as far off as Alien Costume's copy, but the below one comes pretty close. Note also:

--His copy appears to have that same bumpy edge along the top, which is at least somewhat reassuring;
--His copy has extra art under the UPC box, even a whisker more of it than the below one does.

I'm always nervous about trimming but I would think 'not trimmed' is more likely than not.
