Wow, that's super healthy given the movie still a year plus off. We haven't even seen much of a teaser or even real news yet. I wonder where this will land come movie time? $300K doesn't seem unreasonable.

I was guessing between 100k-150k somewhere at the close of the auction and its arguably, the best copy (though there is another 9.4). If the movie is well received, a sequel will be inevitable and he'll likely show up in Shazam at some point and possibly face off against Superman since D.Johnson is pushing for that to happen. The biggest strength for this book is that like the more recent comics, I'm guessing at some point, he will take on the role of an anti-hero, which will translate into providing this book staying power over the years. I think 300k will be a cake walk for that copy in a short time. hm

Off topic question. I didn't want to start a thread.

I heard rumors of possibly Namora being in the Black Panther 2 movie.

What prices would that make Marvel Mystery 82 eventually become?

I'm only asking as I have a low grade 2.5 that I've owned over a decade and a half now.

The census shows there are half the number graded compared to Marvel Family 1.

And the Namora character is on the front cover that makes it a bonus.

It's one thing for first appearance characters in the silver, bronze and copper age. And the prices realized.

The golden age is another thing entirely.

Tough to say. When it comes to census numbers, we have to consider that some books don't get graded until the cost vs ROI is in someone's favor so the census can be misleading in terms of how rare a book is. I myself, might have a few books that are under 1k each and they're still raw and while cost to grade vs ROI would be a plus for me, I'm not sure that an $800 profit is worth me rushing the books out for grading. The book sitting there still holds value but if that ROI was potentially thousands of dollars now, then I'd likely grade it. I feel that many people feel the same so when a book hits a tremendous boost in its sale prices, that's when everyone starts jumping in on grading them.

As you said though, Golden Age is another beast entirely. I'm pretty sure that if she does get announced, you'll be pretty happy with the result. :) Not much in the way of recent sales figures since so few have been offered recently and Marvel Family 1 is similar in that respect BUT with that last sale at 186,000.00 for a top flight copy, I'm pretty sure that everyone will likely start grabbing copies soon enough. Same will likely happen with MM82 when a top copy or two hits the GPA. I know that a 6.0 Marvel Family 1 will hit the census at 36k :gossip: in the future and a 9.0 recently sold at 42k as well (someone got a smoking deal) but I think these are just the beginning.
