Reholding Books at Cons

I was thinking about this while holding some of my signature series books. let's say I go to a con with a book that's already been signed by someone like a writer and CGC'd with the yellow label. and an artist for the book is there. Is it possible to get that book signed already even though its already in the slab ? I don't know if CGC could crack it open at the book and keep the verified signature so you can go get the other one with a witness, but I'd like to know for down the line for upcoming cons

Good afternoon,

Yes, it is possible to have a book that is already encapsulated signed by another artist and retain the signature series label.  The book must still be in the original holder and you would bring it to CGC's booth (or that of a CGC authorized facilitator) and it we (or the facilitator) would crack it out for you.  It would then go to be signed and a CGC witness would sign off on that signature and then it would come back to the booth.  There is a strict chain of custody that must be followed for the books once they are out of the holder but as long as that is followed there would not be an issue keeping that signature series label.

Thank you!

Hi there, is the book that is signed already in a CGC holder with a yellow label? Or is it still raw? If it is signed and still raw, and then submitted for a signing it will get a green/yellow label. If the book is already encapsulated with a yellow label, then the book can removed and get another signature and retain that yellow label. I hope this helps clarify your question.
