Popular Post Straw-Man
lots of lazy time on my hands today, and pulled a seldom-opened box from the back of a shelf. i've often posted my spidey annual 1 and m.t. 1 from my childhood, as they are the two earliest books i still have that i actually bought off a spinner. but there is another little stack of books that have come with me since the 60's, and i've just taken pix of them for the first time this morning. so, here we go. i was a marvel guy, but also dug jfk, who was assassinated when i was 8; so i got this one and kept it. all the rest are marvels. frozentundraguy, Jasonmorris1000000, MrBedrock and 5 others
Popular Post Straw-Man
first spidey i bought was 16, but my back-issue searching got me as early as #5; that one i traded to my best friend, but this pair have been with me a loooong time. still remember the barber shop i found them at; traded him two brand new archies to get them. condition didn't mean much to us as kids. Popular Post MattTheDuck
I can't say I'd never sell them, but these are the first two books I ever bought. These were from Joe's Market, an independent grocer a few blocks from the house in which I grew up. My memory's fuzzy, but I believe they kept the comics in a cardboard box on the bottom shelf of a wooden magazine rack. One will note the nice spine roll on the ASM - as a youngster, I would fold books over as I read them. For 5 years, these were the only comics I had (although some of the covers I see on this site look really familiar) and then I "discovered" there were places you could buy back issues. Previously, I had only daydreamed that Joe's had a bunch of comics in the back storage room. Larryw7, MGsimba77, mec3437 and 4 others

shadroch
Nice, My original collection is long gone but for two books. I kept my Avengers 57 and years later I found a Lomax/Police Action that had been stuck in the bottom of drawer. mec3437

Popular Post KCOComics
As a kid, my earliest memories of comics were of my father telling me the story of "The coming of Galactus". He had read the story as a kid and it stuck with him all those years. So when I was 16 and transitioned from a reader to a collector, these were the first big books I bought (48 and 49) and I've kept them ever since. I had a raw 50 that was more beat up than the others, so I upgraded the 50 just a few years ago.
