A good idea is to take your pic and manipulate it in a photo editing program. Turn the contrast up and down to show any sort of flaws.

It really is too hard to accurately grade when you only have scans.

I think I see a tic on the lower left hand corner of the cover.

I'd say 9.4 is a safe bet based on very limited information, but who knows?

Manipulating photos, for me, is a no-no. I just try to take better pics.

You've clearly misunderstood my advice.

You manipulate the contrast on the photo WITHOUT saving the changes. This will allow YOU to better detect any potential problem areas on the book because defects (and some forms of resto!) will show up as you play with the settings.

I'm not talking about manipulating photos to make them look better when posting books for sale or any other nefarious use of photo editing software. I'm talking about using tools in creative ways to examine a book.

It's a trick I learned back when I was subbing books for my own Spawn run.

The more tools you have in your "grading toolbox" the better! :tink:

I like to learn something new every day. As for grading, I hate to be surprised! By the way, how big is your run?

Truly massive.

My run won the 2018 Registry Awards for the best in Modern Age.

Shortly after winning I broke up the collection and sold it. The money was nice, but I regret it. I really, really do.

There will never again be another Spawn run like this one:

FILES OF MAMMON SPAWN COLLECTION

I really hate you. I really, really do!      Very, very nice. I'm slowly filling in between 150 and 200.

That's one of the toughest stretches for sure.

Good luck on 156. Impossible to find in 9.8.

So is 212.

Ehh...looks like someone found a few 212s. They are on the census.

But the one I truly think is impossible is 156.
