Yes, they do need to lower prices. I wouldn't mind the price increase so much if the turn around time to get your books SIGNIFICANTLY dropped.

Moderns need to be in the $8 - $10 range IMHYWO.

Yep, and I think the biggest thing they could do at this point is to slash the modern tier rate back below $15 a pop, preferably back to $12. With the recessed prices post-1975 books are bringing, you need at least a 9.6 on 95%+ of the books (basically everything except keys) to make it worthwhile to submit them in the 1st place...

Exactly. Spending 20 dollars to CGC a bronze/modern book that you can buy raw for 2-5 dollars just doesn't make sense. As CI stated a while back, they need to create a "Common Grade" tier. Where books worth 5 dollars and below are graded for a cheaper price in order to bring in more of these low value books.

Yes, $12 sounds more realistic then $8 to $10, but if the price to submit a modern was $10 that would really Really bring in the business to CGC and justify the cost to submit somewhat.

I suppose the cost of the cases, salaries, paper for the labels, restoration checking equipment..etc to grade the books and make a reasonable profit justifies the cost of a modern to be $19?

But $10 would be my price point for common moderns or cheaper Bronzes.

I also think it would be in the best interest to offer some form of a customer appreciation day or the such. I've mentioned it many a time to no avail. If they had a day of half priced submissions or something, I bet there'd be a deluge of submissions that day. Including new customers.

You might be right, but I'm thinking in the long run moderns are where the money is going to be made in grading OR are there stacks and stacks of worthwhile Golden and Silver age comics left to be graded for the next several years?

Although they are now accepting books with a small minimum requirement, it is a no brainer to ship multiples in to save on s/h

Seriously.....why does it matter anyway? Why only send one or 2 books on either of these tiers? Does anyone even WANT to do that?

I think CGC should offer discounts for quantity submissions. They will probably do this when the set registry takes off to get people to send in their sets, or at least a quantity of books.

Glad to hear that you can submit less for the 2.Although it is cheaper to submit more to save on postage.But it is nice to have more options open.
