Would really appreciate your thoughts on grade and...a couple of strategy questions.  :)  Planning to C/P unless you all talk me out of it.  On the interior first page is a small pen signature of the artist who did the interior pencils for the book.  I *think* that means I could still get a blue label but might be docked for it on the grade?  Was considering sending to (gasp!) CBCS instead so they could verify signature - would love anybody's thoughts on pros/cons of that too (or is mentioning them around here like mentioning Voldemort??).    Thank you!!!

Oh....green label with notation " name written on first page "

THANK YOU!  Thought I read on one of the boards that people had gotten blue labels with name on first page.  Not so?  Definitely green, you think?

And any thoughts on whether it's a great or terrible or other idea to send to the Grading-Company-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named for (hopefully) verified signature label?  hm

Again, thanks!!!

perfect C&P candidate

7.0 ish as is

at least 8.5 if not 9.0 after C&P

7.0

C&P for 8.0/8.5. I doubt higher but after that recent IH181 9.2 anything is possible.

I'm not convinced it'll get a Qualified Label. If it was on the cover sure, but the signature in the interior should warrant an Universal Label.

Take this book for example.

Oh, and probably little to no deduction for the interior signature. That Grendel example I'd call a 9.2. I don't see it as a 9.4 with a -0.2 deduction for the interior artwork and signature in marker.

Good point.

Perhaps it's green if sig on cover and blue if sig on interior page?

Thanks!  Very interesting and good to know.  Crying shame to have that awesome sketch and sig not visible!!  But at least you've got the photo of it!

That was what I was thinking but would be interested to know if others have similar experiences.

Also, all kidding aside, everyone is mum on the possibility of CBCS for verified signature.  Is bringing up CBCS around here a no no?  I've only done CGC in past but am considering a change for this already-existing signature....

No shame.

I cracked the slab as soon as I got the copy.

Confused.  You cracked it once you got another copy of #1?  Or once you got #2?  Either way, killer books and absolutely love that sketch.  I've got a Lobo sketch on the cover of an Omega Men 3 that yours reminds me of...so so cool, artist sketches on books are one of my absolutely favorites.

Primer #2 I cracked 15 years ago (Qualified 9.4 - unwitnessed signature).

I got the Grendel #1 this past year. I didn't even read the label when I bid on the book, but as I was waiting for it to come in I took another look at the seller's pic and noticed the notation, "name and sketch on first page." That got me excited. I had no idea. Cracked it immediately and was floored by what was on the splash page.

Ahhhhh I get it - couldn't figure out why you'd send it off to get slabbed only to crack it.

LOVE IT!!!  Quite the treasure, particularly with your username!
