Wouldn't it be an advantage to have TWO opposable thumbs per hand instead of one? I mean, like if there are some apes in trees and a tiger or badger is waiting below for one of them to slip and fall, wouldn't the mutant ape with two thumbs per hand have an evolutionary advantage because they can have a stronger firmer grip than the standard-issue one thumb per hand? I'm sure at some point in evolution, there had to have been an ape born with an extra thumb that worked well enough to give it a grip-advantage over the hoi polloi uni-thumbed apes, thus ensuring it's offspring would survive. Am I wrong? AM I WRONG!!?
