Wow , this brand new statue was just built in 2018 in India , it might be the tallest statue in the world , i will have to do some more reading about it

William Gaines (Mad Magazine) was a big statue of liberty fan , he used his connections to have access to the arm and use the ladder to reach the torch platform which has been closed to the public since 1916 , it was closed because the arm was damaged during WW1 when the Germans set off an explosion in the harbor which caused $100,000 in damage to the arm (2.3 million in todays dollars)
