PGM FF #16

Here is my copy of Fantastic Four #16. It is my goal to have FF #1 - #20 in CGC-graded slabs. Currently, I have issues #1 - #10 and #12 in slabs; also, issue #13 is currently at CFP, before heading to CGC. With your help, I hope to determine if my remaining issues are slab worthy.

Here are the issues as I see them:

There is chipping and a few slight tears along the right-hand side of the front cover. There is a sun shadow at the upper right-hand corner of the front cover. There are some creases near the spine, some color-breaking and some non-color-breaking. There is damage at the bottom left-hand corner of the front cover. It actually looks like a water stain, but it doesn’t penetrate to any of the inside pages.

The sun shadow really puts a damper on what would otherwise be a very solid book. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Thank you, @grendelbo. Isn't there anyone else that has an opinion? @FoggyNelson, @1950's war comics, @Randall Ries, @frozentundraguy, @I Am The Answer!, @Galen130, @KCOComics, or @Funnybooks, surely at least one of you can share your thoughts. I always trust your opinions.

Thank you!

I too thought 6.0/6.5 at first glance, but that sun shadow on the top right of the front cover would bring it down to about a 4.5 IMHO.  Still a nice looking book though. (thumbsu

Spoiler

I'm thinking what a stain on the back cover of my copy of Flash 138 did, and the back cover of my copy of Tales to Astonish 23.

I would go 4.5 because of the general fade but mostly because of the upper right FC.

tough one...

my initial reaction to the technical grade was a 5.5 but then the fading became distracting enough to bring the grade down into "vg territory"  so I split the difference at a strong 4.5 or a weak 5.0 since it does present quite well.

I think 4.5/5.0 feels about right.

It is a very clean book and when I first looked, I was thinking F. But I think the accumulation of defects.. the edge wear, the bottom corners and the sun shadow will bring it down a bit.

how about 5.0 with a QES sticker?

I’m seeing favorably a 5.0-5.5👍‼️😷

would not be surprised at all....

would any one of us purchase this copy if priced at market 4.5?

would any one of us purchase this copy if priced at market 5.5?

given other comparably priced copies in grade?

I think that's how I would approach assigning a grade...

5.5

CGC’s grading these days is not what it was even a year ago.  Some of us are calling grades with noticeable defects that come back as a 9.8 (example Modern), so my personal grading skills don’t seem to coincide with the current establishment.  Let’s see what happens with older books like this one…(thumbsu
