PGM DD #8 - GRADE IS IN!
4 4

11 posts in this topic

Here is my copy of Daredevil #8. It is my goal to have DD #1 - #10 in CGC-graded slabs. Currently, I have issues #1, #2, #4, and #7, all with grades of 6.0 or higher. With your help, I hope to determine if my remaining issues are slab worthy.

Here are the issues as I see them:

There are some tics along the spine of the front cover. There is some kind of mark near the bottom of the L in DAREDEVIL. There are a few minor creases on the front cover, but they are non-color breaking. There is a small crease in the bottom left-hand corner of the back cover.

I think that this is a very sharp copy, but I think that this book could be improved by a cleaning/pressing. What are your thoughts? Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

This book has a lot of sentimental value to me, it is one of the very first books I bought new as a kid in the 60's, you have a Very Nice copy.

I see slightly discolored staples (as seen in the centerfold), slight staple tear at top staple (also seen in the centerfold), slight spine stress (3 ticks that slightly break color), slight edge/corner wear, slight foxing front and back cover, stain/writing in the corner box between "Marvel and "12 Cents".

Overall it is a very pretty book.

8.5 VERY FINE+ (VF+):  Back to Top
Fits the criteria for Very Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

8.0 VERY FINE (VF):  Back to Top
An excellent copy with outstanding eye appeal. A limited accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Cover is relatively flat with minimal surface wear beginning to show, possibly including some minute wear at corners. Inks are generally bright with moderate to high reflectivity. An unnoticeable 1/4" crease is acceptable if color is not broken. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. Minor foxing. Spine is almost completely flat with a possible minor color break. Staples may show some discoloration. Very slight staple tears and a few almost insignificant stress lines may be present. Paper is cream to tan and supple. Centerfold is mostly secure. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.

C&P to 9.0/9.2.

I’m aware you know how to handle your comics, but when I see older books opened up like that, more than necessary IMO, I cringe because of potential issues that could arise…like spine roll or popping the cover off/around the staples. 😐. Be careful. (worship)
