It's incredible how much story and action Jack packed into this issue.

I also noticed Kirby drew just about every key Marvel comic book cover during those early Marvel years. It`s been amazing to learn how much Jack Kirby contributed to the formation of Marvel. Yes, I use to be one of those Stan Lee Presents guys. This thread definitely has changed my perspective on Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko`s importance in the creation of Marvel.

Don't forget Wally Wood's writing on early SA DD:

I always thought the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants was the silliest name of all time... who calls themselves 'evil'?

Perhaps the Brotherhood of Alternative Mutants?

Also, we should have a gender-neutral alternative for "brotherhood."

I've got it! The Association of Alternative Mutants--with a bit of Lieberesque alliteration.

ON NEWSSTANDS JUNE 1964

Amazing Spider-man #16 - Letters Page

“There’s no telling what our next ish of Spiderman will be... but you can be sure they’ll come up with something...”

Stan didn't KNOW, because he wasn't writing it.

Ditko was already souring on ideas Stan tried to give him - like this issue - a repeated villain from another comic (written by Kirby)... with a crossover hero from another book...

Thanks for putting this up. To me, this original colouring looks so much better than the Photoshop version in the Masterwork.

It always does. Masterworks creep me out.

Are you sure that Stan even wrote these? I bet this was farmed out to (pardon my fading memory and no disrespect intended) what’s her name?

Flo Steinberg would be a likely candidate, absolutely!
