Spot on the bottom of the back cover doesn't look production related. Thoughts?

No it doesn't.

Quickly perusing other slabs of this same issue on eBay I don't see a similar blemish on any of them.

Could be on the book. Could also be on the camera. If it's a book you're thinking of buying ask the seller for additional pics.

I already won it in an eBay auction a few days ago and am waiting for it to arrive. It was a great price and I only had about 15 minutes to decide because I happened upon it while bidding on something else.

Could it have happened post grading? Can you determine when it was graded and if it was long enough ago for this tiny spot of foxing(?) to have occurred? It wouldn't distress me if I knew I got it for a bargain price! Handsome book!

I've seen books with similar looking spot get 9.8's in past.  I do wonder if it's consider a printing/manufacturing defect or if a stain simply missed by the graders.

I just got the book and there is no spot! Maybe it was on the case and got cleaned? It really did look like a foxing stain from the pic. Anyway, thanks for the replies!

It might very well have been the camera

It makes me wonder if the price ended up being so low because it appeared to have that spot on the back.
