I believe I've answered or posted on every PM. In case you don't know why you are getting  from me, or brief replies, I keep every PM for each of these threads, just in case there are ever any questions and if I'm not the last poster, I keep answering so I don't think I have a new PM.

If you sent me something and I have not replied, it means I missed it among 150 others and since there is no way to sort easily, if you need me to answer or update some info, just bump the pm please. 

It looks like we still have 7 items that have not been paid for yet.  I will probably take another look through my pms before sending notes, but it's possible that some of you didn't include either me or David in a PM so I just don't have the info yet. If you just haven't paid yet, please take the time to do that before Sunday or post what is going on.

Here is Jim's update for today:) There was another part of our pm where I asked Jim how he was feeling and he was talking about vertigo and nausea.

 

 

"All my doctors know. It's common with the stroke I had. It's one of the main focuses with my physical therapy. It may never go away. Rest actually seems to make it worse. I'm definitely trying to comply, but insisted from the beginning that I did not want this candy coated. Still, I'm optimistic. Unless this unexpectedly turns for the worst, I may avoid being a burden to others.  That's my biggest fear. I can dress, clean, and feed myself, use the facilities (except the shower), take my own meds, and tell you what day it is.  It could be SO much worse. Working again may likely be out of the question. My boss's brother is on permanent SSI for vertigo alone. He takes meds, but they sometimes fall short. No matter what, you and the boards gave me a fighting chance with this difficult burden. I just hope that someday I can "pay it forward". GOD BLESS ...

- $100 if I come in under my total allotted moving time

So, if all criteria are met, that’ll be $400 total from me.  I'm very confident in the first three races, but admittedly 5 hours might be optimistic for the marathon.  We shall see though!

I'll update this post continually with any new pledges as they roll in:  In the interest of tidiness, I'd prefer you pm me any pledges, and I'll tag you and quote the pertinent details.  Donation period will stay open throughout the races as I see no need to put a deadline on it.  And I'll post results and other fun quips on a daily basis!  All updates will be posted in my event journal:

I certainly can understand why this is called the "Dopey Challenge." That is a lot of running, by anyone's standards.

I ran cross country in college, and I did many of these distances. Here are my personal bests:

5K - 15:50 (on the track)
10K - 33:15 (in cross country)
Half-Marathon: I ran several of these, but I can't remember my best time.
Marathon: 2:43 (immediately after my senior year cross country season in college)

I ran the Omaha Marathon (3:14), the Iowa City Marathon (2:43), and the Pike Peaks Marathon (only the ascent, and I have no idea of what my time was). The coolest part of the Pike's Peak Marathon is that you don't get your T-Shirt until you reach the top. As a long-time runner, I know it was not uncommon for someone to sign up for a race, pick up their shirt the night before, and then never show up to the starting line. Personally, I would be ashamed to wear a T-shirt from a race if I hadn't participated.

First up is the very first book I bought on the boards. Jim was doing one of his "the tax man cometh" sales threads and I was floored by the pages and pages of incredible books he posted. There were Schomburg air brush covers,  BA horror,  key books (including a Hulk 1), WWII, Frazetta... it was a smattering of everything that went on for pages and pages. I had never really seen a sales thread like it before.

Hi everyone, unfortunately I have some bad news to share about the Dopey Challenge.  Due to expected mid-morning storms, the half marathon course has been shortened to only 7 miles.  Basically the distance that I just did today.

Can’t be mad at anyone, the weather does what it does, but it is disappointing and will leave me with a feeling of having unfinished business (Disney is still awarding the full slate of Dopey medals despite the modification).

Honestly, I’m going to sand bag tomorrow and use it as a recoup day for the marathon (clear skies forecast for Sunday).  I was looking forward to the half marathon to put Nashville’s ghost to bed, and 7 miles just isn’t a challenge in comparison.  I’ll still do the miles, but it might take an hour 45.  Ergo, I won’t be setting a modified time goal for tomorrow.

I’ll figure out how this affects my bonus  clauses after the marathon.
