Long story short...about ten years ago, I acquired my dad's early collection of MAD Magazines.  He collected these as a kid, and as a young adult when I myself was a kid.  He originally collected them growing up in Iowa, and they do show their age.  We moved to Arizona in the late 1970's where they sat in a box in our outdoor laundry room.  I was allowed to read them once I starting reading big boy stuff, but not keep them...at the time.

He sent them to me about the same time I retired from the military (2014), and they were boxed up until recently.  They are all boarded/bagged now.  I think there might be a couple that he had with him in Vietnam in '67/'68.  He doesn't remember which one's, if any.  I collected my own MAD's during the 1990's, but they weren't as funny as the older magazines.  I stopped collecting MAD in 2003.

I have about 70-plus magazines, and I've done my best to get grade estimates.  I have scanned them all, but I haven't scanned any interior attachments.  I don't want to damage the magazines' spines.  A lot of the older one's have a mild spine roll to damaged spines.

Feel free to PM me with any questions about any listing, as my grading may be off.  I'm better at grading raw comics, not magazines that have creases on the back cover from the ever-familiar fold-ins that MAD readers loved to do. Lol

These mags may be hard to price, so reasonable offers will be considered. :)

MAD Magazine #44, January 1959.

VG; tan to cream pages.  The magazine is complete...nothing cut out.  The spine is attached at the staples, but there are splits in spots along the spine, especially the front bottom spine corner.  The interior wraps are tanned around the edges.

MAD Magazine #47, June 1959.

GD/VG; tan to cream pages.  Complete, but with spine splits at the bottom and top.  The back shows some mild moisture damage along the top edge, and the top left corner seems to have bug chew (cover only).  A few interior wraps have dog-ear corners, and a bit of moisture damage.  Any moisture damage with this one doesn't show staining that I can see.

VG-; tan to cream pages.  Complete, but this one was hard to grade because the staples do show some rust.  Also, there's a moderate spine roll and a one-inch tear at the bottom spine corner.

MAD Magazine #164, January 1974.  This one contains a Ryan O'Neal 'Paper Moon' parody.  Ryan O'Neal passed away on December 8th of this year.  R.I.P. :foryou:

FN+; cream pages.  Complete, but the back shows the tell-tale crease from the fold-in.  Interior wraps show small bend creases to the bottom right corner.  There is some very mild tanning to the pages as well.

FN+; cream to off-white pages.  Complete, without fold-in creases (that I can see).  I dinged the grade estimate because of the soiling on the front cover of both.  A clean/press would greatly improve the looks of these two copies.
