The Mark Of Zorro by Johnston McCulley    Dell No. 553  1st PB edition  1951   $25

Great Bob Stanley cover art of Zorro's mark on the dude's forehead

Bright, glossy copy with only a tiny scuff to top spine and a touch of wear to spine edges to speak of. Tough to find yellow covers so bright. Pretty.

Angels Camp by Ray Morrison   Bantam No. 794 2nd Printing August 1950    $15

Cool bargain entry piece into JD pbs.  Nice Denver Gillen cover art.

Bright and square, with a real nice front cover, back cover has a tear and crease at the bottom.

Tomboy by Hal Ellson    Bantam No. 945   1st Printing   1950   $40  SOLD to jimjum12

Robert Maguire's first paperback cover art of a tough young delinquent girl smoking a cigarette ("with bitterness" as Randall Downing would say :) )

Super glossy unread copy is bright and brilliant with deep deep colors and very little wear. The spine paper has a tear on the edge near the T, probably from glue shrinkage. Still a stunner, rarely seen this fresh.

I sold mine when things were up in the air a couple of months ago, this one looks nicer. To me, it's a "must have" for a vintage PB collection. I wasn't expecting to have another. GOD BLESS...

Double Indemnity by James M. Cain    Avon 60   1st small Avon edition   1st printing    1945     $75  SOLD to Goldust40

Paul Stahr cover art.    Just a beautiful copy of what is, imho, far and away the most well painted early Avon cover

The crisp colors, especially on the unfaded spine, are so unusual for this book. Square and tight, no reader crease, a couple of wisps of creases at edges. Pages are evenly toned and supple with a little foxing inside the front cover and first and last pages.

The Continental Op by Dashiell Hammett       Dell 129   1946     $30

Hard Boiled pulp collection with one of the most famous Dell Mapback Art Deco covers with a hanging man inside a badge.

Solid binding, pages tight and supple. Unusually straight spine for this title, covers are nice and uncreased, small initial indented into cover at colophon. Light foxing,  edge and cornerwear.  Lamination is fully intact.  A very nice copy of an all time classic vintage paperback.
