I don’t usually post in thread like this, but this conversation has moved me.  At this moment, I am on my yearly guys’ weekend with my four best friends from childhood. We are all 55 now. Two of these guys were in my kindergarten class.  Close friends are one of the only things in this universe that are just pure goodness… At least in my life..  I’m really sorry for the people here who have lost a close friend.

You are THE best , Jeremy. Thanks man and enjoy that pickleball!

If you want to claim a book marked at $20 or less in the thread - go for it! Sounds like you may opt to "pass" though?

Yeah, it's cool. Preacher is a top 5 series for me so I felt compelled to respond to your question.

Okey doke - no worries. Now you know what I gotta ask, right?

What else is in your Top 5?

I read Preacher in high school as it was coming out and it was my favorite thing that ever happened. Then I re-read about ten years later and remember not being so impressed, wondering what I was missing that time around. I've been debating a third read.

I think a lot of what makes it special on first read is the shock-factor. The boundary-breaking. The creative walls coming down (with a vengeance). And of course - the novelty of the crude and honest nature of the thing. Novelty only works once. Thoughts?

You're right of course. Preacher was also my very first introduction to Ennis and after it I followed him everywhere. It was also the only (don't judge me) series where I looked forward to the next issue, bought it the day it came out, and read it that night in my room. That's not a feeling that's going to carry through.

Update

I found even more books to post...

I'm finding it easier to "give up" books the more this thread goes along...it's great...it feels ...."liberating" to let some go... wait, I think I mean, "What's wrong with me?"...or maybe I mean, "What's happening?"...or maybe I mean..."Why does this snozzberry taste like a poof puff?"...mmm..."Gulp". Whatever this is, it seems to be working for all.

Based on what I've seen so far in this thread, I think the crowd will like the upcoming books - fingers crossed.

I will need to take today "off" to photograph, grade, and price. Hope to have that all wrapped up by EOD so that we can post some bangers tomorrow, Friday 7/19 at around 3pm (PT).

In the meantime...first person to tell us who this guy is (and why he's important to ol' Jesse Custer) may claim any book left in the thread marked at $20 or less, for FREE.

This is a tough trivia question for even the most astute of Preacher Die Hards. To me, he is the most important character in the entire book, even though he only makes a brief cameo. Godspeed to the winner!

Preach on Boardie Nation. Preach on....

Billy Baker (Character) - Comic Vine

Hello peoples.

I was CrowdStriked this morning, along with what sounds like many others out there, and had to put everything on hold for 4 hours with IT BS fixes. I am delayed, but finally now up and running again with all devices working. I hope to begin posting at 4pm (PT) today instead of 3pm (PT) today, as I originally wrote.

See you then.

For me, my Ennis was Alan Moore, with Bissette, Totleben, and Swamp Thing. It's high praise when they "get" us like that. GOD BLESS ...

1. Barbie and Ken

2. Barbie 1991

3. Preacher

4. Barbie Fashion

5. Jem and the Holograms

Okay, fine. In no particular order: Watchmen, Miracleman, Moore's Swamp Thing, Preacher, Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (no, really), and a shoutout to O'Barr's The Crow.

….and Uncle Scrooge takes it down for the WIN!

…after Barbie 1991, of course. The other Barbie listings are complete heresy
