Honey by Jack Woodford and John Thompson  Beacon B371    2nd numbering of this PBO    1961   $30

Inter-racial sleaze.  Pretty sure this GGA cover art is by Warren King

Slight slant, otherwise has very little wear, possibly unread.

His Brother's Wife by Clay Stuart   Beacon B698X   PBO   1964    $15  SOLD to Comical Situations

Scarce sleaze title with beautiful Al Rossi GGA cover art

Unread but book is warped from storage. Looks worse in the photos than in hand

Love Cult by James W. Lampp (mistakenly attributed to Harry Whittington by Lancer)    Lancer Books 71-315    1962      $50  SOLD to Comical Situations

Awesome whipping GGA cover art - looks like the Duillo's who were doing covers for Lancer in the 60's

Famously (or infamously) attributed to Harry Whittington by Lancer, the original Croydon digest was by pen name William Vaneer, a house name used by both Whittington and Lampp.

Nice copy for this one which is usually trashed. Slight lean, a color chip and other light edgewear. Pages and inner covers tanning, first page has a small tear.

The Seven Sirens by Carter Brown  Signet T4908   1st Printing  February 1972     $30  SOLD to crassus

First copy of this Robert McGinnis cover beauty I've had for sale and it's near perfect.

Stunning copy, has a small ding on the spine, that's about it. Super glossy and new looking with no creasing and virtually no handling wear.

Stiletto by Harold Robbins Dell First Edition C115   PBO 1st Printing   December 1960   $25  SOLD to Goldust40

Sweet Robert Abbett back shot cover on Harold Robbins' only paperback original.

I'm surprised he even did one, he made such a fortune on hardback firsts followed by millions of pb printings.

Nice, glossy tight copy with very minor edge wear, light shadow at top front and name in pen on title page.

It was his first book in five years at that point, so I can think of several possibilities.  First guess would be he just needed a publisher at the point he signed the contract, then had to deliver despite having a couple films based on his work turn up shortly before the book came out.  Or he may have felt he owed the editor a favor.  Or he thought the book was more suited to being a paperback original for some reason.

We'll probably never know, and given that it's, well, Harold Robbins, I really don't care much. But other writers have done PBO's well past the point when they could get a HC contract for anything they wrote... Stephen King being the most obvious current example.

I liked his first 5 books or so then it became too melodramatic but 79 Park Avenue remains a favorite.

Maybe it was just a secret teen crush on Lesley Ann Warren for the miniseries lead, I can't deny lol but the book was really good as well.
