It is a select few sellers whose business plan is to pawn off knowingly restored material as unrestored. If caught, they will gladly refund the money. Big dollars are to be made off of the majority of books that do not get the second look over and returned for a refund.

 

This is true. I can't say whether the seller in Yenling's case is like this, but many sellers will do exactly that, hoping the buyer just files it away in his or her (but almost certainly his) collection, not discovering the restoration for many years, if ever.

 

Could be an honest mistake every now and then though.
